Arranged marriages: is it better than love marriages?
In this day and age, usually an arranged marriage is quite rare in a family. However, there are still many people who think that the arranged marriage can greatly guarantee the future of their children, especially for women. They believe that arranged marriage can offer the protection for women. But in fact, there are many cases of women who are involved in abusive relationships because of this arranged marriage, and a lot of women have been known still stay in that relationship because of the sake for their family pride and respect in society. It is all because of a tradition within a family that is why an arranged marriage are still exists today. They didn't care anything about love marriages.
First of all, love marriage can make women more familiar with person they will marry later. This stage is very important. Also, love marriage offer more independence than the arranged marriage because they can chose the best person for their lover, arranged marriage was chosen by their parents and they have to be fulfill their parent's expectation to producing an heir, especially a male-heir. Knowing somebody before marriage allows partner to respect each other's need and desires. Also, love marriage can make them able to arrange their own dream wedding, and they can smile happily when they get married.
Secondly, arranged marriages can make women lose their freedom, because of the pressure from the family that exalts the ranks above everything and also the culture in the family itself. As in many cases in India, women are overwhelmed with abusive relationships because there are husbands who feel that because of her they can't marry the other woman they want. The women were not respected at all. Just imagine being taken away from freedom, for example can't even listening to any genres of music, can't act anything that you're comfort to, because of a family tradition and culture! This is making me mad. Every person should be treaten like human being no matter what.
In conclusion, I believe that arranged marriage is not the best choice for both man or women. Marriage is based on mental readiness and maturity, are they both ready to build a household. Not because they have to raise a family pride and respect in society, and raise the family's status because of tradition and culture. The family itself should be aware, whether their child is happy or even depressed because of the arranged marriage. Love marriage is the best choice for the sake of their children's happiness.
