Ciletuh Geopark
A lot of amazing tourism places in Sukabumi aren't popular because it's difficult to get to them. There are also even people around Sukabumi prefer to abroad without realize they are still many tourism places in Sukabumi which cozy vibe, azure waters, flower fields, and stunning waterfalls worth visiting. All of them look like they belong in fairy tales. They should be proud if they’ve heard that Sukabumi tourism destination has recognize by UNESCO. The UNESCO Global Geopark Ciletuh or most people called it Geopark Ciletuh which located in Sukabumi regency, West Java. Did you know? Ciletuh Geopark has received certificate from UNESCO as part of UNESCO Global Geopark in April 2018 and wins the most popular new tourist destination in the Anugerah Pesona Indonesia (API) tourism awards of Tourism Ministry. Undoubtedly, Ciletuh Geopark became a famous tourist destination because of its has unique potential attraction. There are three major interesting tourism places which exist in Ciletuh Geopark; Panenjoan Hill, Cimarinjung Waterfall, and Darma Peak.
The word of “Panenjoan” is derived from Sunda language “Tenjo/Nenjo” which mean “look”. This explain, Panenjoan Hill can be interpreted became “a hill where we can look at something”. The shape of Panenjoan Hill looks like horseshoe and there’re also said resembles a bowl. From the top of Panenjoan Hill you can see landscape of three villages such as Ciwaru village, Mandra Jaya village, and Mekar Sakti village. The facilities are good enough. There are parking area, clean toilets, musola, stalls, and some spot to enjoying Ciletuh Geopark scenery. Not far from Panenjoan Hill, there are cottages where anyone can stay for awhile, if they still want to spend their time in Ciletuh Geopark area. Access road to reach Panenjoan Hills has been reconstructed so that tourist or traveler can use vehicle and easy without walking far to the location. The cost for enter Panenjoan Hill approximately Rp. 3000 until Rp. 5000 per person.
Cimarinjung Waterfall is one of tourist objects in Ciletuh Geopark area. Cimarinjung Waterfall has a height of about 50 meters. It will be memorable as the natural panorama offers its beauty to the visitors. Under the Cimarinjung waterfall, there are two other waterfalls that are smaller but difficult to reach, people called Dogdog Waterfall because this waterfall has long shapes such as percussion dogdog, music instrument from Sunda. There is also Nyelempet Waterfall because the water flow is between narrow space. It’s suitable for thrill seeker who really love high sensation and pumping the adrenaline. Cimarinjung waterfall is surrounded by high cliff and green trees. All tired paid off during pass by the beautiful rice field and garden. It is not recommended for family whom bring kids because the route to reach this location is extreme. In addition, before the facility reconstructed they can enter for free, but right now you just they just need Rp. 3000 until Rp. 5000 per person.
Darma Peak is one of the highest plains in Ciletuh Geopark area. The hill at the Peak of Darma is at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level, above the village of Girimukti, Ciemas District, Sukabumi. Girimukti Village, Ciemas is one of the gates of the Ciletuh Geopark. Before tracing the geopark, tourists usually see the beauty of the landscape from Darma Peak. Darma Peak is a peak that is above a certain height from the surface of the sea where we can see directly and more closely the beautiful scenery of Ciletuh Geopark. It’s a nice to hangout and enjoying views to Ciletuh Geopark. Nice place to see sunset. There's also a photospot leads to the sea scenery. From this peak, tourists can see the ocean, small islands such as Kunti Island, Palangpang Beach, Ciletuh Bay, hills, and also waterfalls. The charm of its best beauty is at sunrise or the sunset because of this hill facing west. The sun will set in the middle of the bay.
So, no doubt Ciletuh Geopark got achievement from UNESCO because visitor from another city could find many destinations around that area. Of course, Ciletuh Geopark got this achievement can’t be separate from hard work and support by local community also government to develop this destination.
